Replacement Ford Ranger Fuel Filler Neck Hoses Are Junk!!

The majority of NEW fuel filler neck hoses for the 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 Ford Ranger are built to fail in the first year. Not only is the hose junk; the filler necks were the cap screws on to are also problematic. This job requires removing the bed and is not something you want to do twice if you can help it. There has been an influx of junk units across the board. Almost every auto parts store and online company sells this same junk unit. This is because there is only a few overseas company's that produce this. Most of the time these company's deal with each other and sell the same parts.  This blog will show you what to avoid when replacing one of these fuel filler necks and hoses.

 Here is a list of things to look out for.

1) HOSES BUILT WITHOUT NYLON REINFORCEMENT IN THE WALL OF HOSE.

Without The Nylon Reinforcement The Hose Will Crack Within 1 to 2 Years.

HERE IS WHAT YOU DO WANT IN A FUEL FILLER HOSE FOR THE 1989-1993 RANGER

1) Nylon reinforcement threads within the wall of the hose. 

This holds the hose together and prevents cracking. It is a standard practice in the hose manufacturing industry and should always be present. 

2) NBR Rubber On The Inside And CSM Rubber On The Outside.

UPPER FUEL FILLER NECK PROBLEMS FOR THE 1989-1993 FORD RANGER.

1) BAD SEAL WHERE CAP SCREWS ON

The Photo Below Shows where They Used A Bondo Type Substance To Seal These. This Will Crack and Fall Off; Alot Of Times During The Shipping Process. If This is not damaged on arrival you have a 95% chance this will degrade and fall off in the future. This will cause a leak to form and your Ranger to not pass emissions testing.

Sometimes When The Epoxy/ Bondo Comes All The Way Off The Cap Insert Falls All Of The Way Out!
